Expertise

Paul has an impressive record in advising on and bringing about successful outcomes on health and safety, corporate manslaughter, directors’ liability, environmental pollution, product liability and bribery cases, as well as dealing with crisis management. He is highly experienced in carrying out investigations and prosecutions, and in the unfortunate situation when a crisis occurs, Paul can guide you through police, Health & Safety Executive, local authority or central government investigations.

Paul represents individuals at interviews, advises companies on internal investigations, steers defendants through any prosecution or enforcement action and ensures that any lessons that need to be learnt result in corrective action.

He also advises specifically on:

  • The 2010 Bribery Act – which has imposed essential responsibilities on companies and their Boards of Directors – from writing anti-bribery and anti-corruption policies to handling an investigation from the FSA or SFO.
  • Carrying out investigations under the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007 to mitigate the consequences of accidents.
  • He has particular experience in working with companies on food safety, advising on due diligence procedures and the ever developing regulatory regime for food safety.
  • Paul regularly delivers training sessions on areas such as handling a criminal investigation, individual manager liability, interviews under caution and corporate manslaughter.

“Paul provided us with support on our acquisitions of individual and multiple group transactions. I have always found him very reliable, supportive and the expert required to give the right advice and guidance”.
